Crytek: RAM PS 4 and Xbox One Will Not Be Enough

Of all the developers in the game industry, Crytek is more strongly associated with games that offer exceptional visual quality. This focus also gave birth to one of the most phenomenal engine – CryEngine which at the time of its emergence via Crysis, managed to conquer even the strongest PC in the past. Even in one interview, Crytek had put forward a pretty provocative comment – calling that the quality of graphics is much more important than just gameplay and plot that carried. If his mission is pursuing a more realistic visualization, can this be achieved with the Playstation 4 and Xbox One in its emergence, is already under the performance of the PC?  Madden Mobile is worried about one thing: the amount of RAM!

Compared with previous generation consoles, the amount of RAM offered by the Playstation 4 and Xbox One is far more massive. But this does not seem to be enough in Crytek’s eyes. Sean Tracy in his interview with gaming site – GamingBolt, confirms that the 8 GB number carried by PS 4 and Xbox One counts “enough” now, but will be easily full in the future. This is exacerbated by the fact that not all of these RAMs can be exploited by the developer, given the certain quantities that are usually already located to run the OS and other functions.

This problem itself is already visible in  Madden Mobile hack next-gen first project for Xbox One – Ryse. Tracy acknowledges that they’ve set up all the memory usage in the game to ensure that the visual quality remains next-gen. Departing from this experience, he believes RAM will be the limiting factor as well as the biggest weakness of this latest generation console. But Tracy also asserts that the raw console capabilities will not be the only decisive element, given that the right optimization will still be able to produce the photo-realistic photo visualization they need.

How do you think? How many of you are still sticking with the PC specifications with the RAM below 8 GB and are already beginning to feel no longer able to facilitate the next-gen games that exist?
